The Deer Trail does not hold a name without meaning. Throughout the snowmobile season, deer are a regular site along this scenic wilderness route. If riding well-serviced backcountry is in the picture, then this tour fits the bill. From the scenery of the northern routes connecting Aubrey Falls with Thessalon and Elliot Lake to the wild power line rides along the North Channel of Lake Huron, this area is comparable to none.
This is true Canadian Shield country and its rugged beauty is breathtaking. Added to this majestic scenery is the Mississagi River where, in places, the trail runs along the banks and I'm telling you, this is one serious river! Riding a snowmobile along beside the coursing water makes for some real Kodak Moments. Be sure to put this trail on your "gotta do" list. It's wide, smooth, breathtaking and the hills...well, you've just got to see them! I think the grooming equipment must be part mountain goat as the hills are both long and steep, requiring more than a little concentration just to ride, let alone groom.

Trail Tales
The Deer Trail ranges from 250 kilometres to 375 kilometres depending on the route chosen. Gas and services along the trail seem to pop up at all of the perfect times and the facilities are excellent. Home to some of the Region's more remote country, this area also provides great opportunities to experience riding off the beaten path on the incredible wilderness trail north of Wakomata Lake and along the interconnected lake crossings north of Elliot Lake. Trails to the north are primarily forest access roads of all sizes and connect into the Golden Triangle along Lake Huron where power and gas line corridors make for an interesting experience. Get a taste of the backcountry where the white tails roam.
