The Diamond Triangle is probably the most compact snowmobile adventure in Ontario with terrain as diverse as an area ten times its size. From scenic vistas atop rocky outcrops, unimaginable views are a constant and welcomed interruption to the adventurous trails that run along old logging roads and power lines. Home to some of the most accommodating towns anywhere in the Province, the area is frequented by the extensive deer population that congregate at the foot of Iron Bridge's 202 foot bridge over the Mississagi River. With well-kept secrets like the power line trail between Elliot Lake and Iron Bridge to the scenic vistas overlooking Lake Huron along the North Channel, this compact area packs a lot of interest and a full days work for the camera. Rarely will any rider find a set of trails that provide a full spectrum of experiences in such a small and hospitable corner of the Province.
Added to the excitement of these great trails, communities in the area are constantly offering up a taste of winter with dog sled races, fishing derbies for all ages and, for snowmobile enthusiasts, some of the best racing action in the north. Mix in the down home winter festivals and the Golden Triangle is one of Ontario's most enjoyable stay and play winter destinations.
Trail Tales
Recognized as one of Ontario's best stay and ride areas, the Diamond Triangle provides numerous riding loops ranging in length from 100 kilometres to 250 kilometres depending on the trails chosen. Experiences in the area also include running lakes north of Elliot Lake, Spanish and Blind River and the tree lines connecting Spanish with Killarney and Manitoulin Island - one of the Province's best kept snowmobile secrets. Trails run just about every terrain including forest access routes, gas line corridors and the power line connecting Spanish and Algoma Mills - well known for its quick twists and sudden hills.
